Board appoints George to head MiCare insurance

Palikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): March 14, 2006 - MiCare, formerly known as the Federated States of Micronesia National Government Employees' Health Insurance Plan, has along with its recent name change, appointed a new Administrator.

The Board of Directors of MiCare Insurance has appointed Yosiwo P. George as the new Administrator for the National Government's Health Insurance program, effective March 01.

George hails from the State of Kosrae and replaces former Administrator Dwight Edward of the State of Pohnpei. George brings to the insurance company a wealth of experience from the many years in leadership positions throughout the FSM - from State Government to National Government. He has held leadership positions in all three Branches of the Government. From the Administrator of the Trust Territory Social Security to Governor of Kosrae State and on to becoming the first Secretary of the Department of Health, Education and Social Affairs of the then newly established FSM Government.

The gamut of George's vast experiences also include, being an Ambassador to the United Nations, a member of the 10th FSM Congress and a Chief Justice for the Kosrae State Court.

He is married to Antilise W. Allen and they have seven children.

The MiCare program currently covers over 20,000 individuals (employees and their dependents) under the guidance of a Board of Directors comprised of the following:
