Missions pay courtesy to new Administration

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): May 30, 2003 - The Diplomatic Corps in the Federated States of Micronesia have visited President Joseph J. Urusemal and Vice President Redley Killion this week.

On May 27, Ambassador Aftab Seth of India began the procession of Courtesy Calls to get acquainted with the new Administration. Ambassador Seth was accredited to the FSM in June 2001 under the former Administration. The Ambassador is stationed in Tokyo, Japan.

Ambassador Larry M. Dinger of the United States Embassy in Pohnpei met with President and Vice President the following day. Ambassador Dinger was accredited to the FSM in January of 2002. Deputy Chief of Mission Thomas J. Hushek accompanied the Ambassador on the courtesy call.

The same day, Ambassador Xhang Binhua of the People's Republic of China Embassy also had his acquaintance meeting with the President and Vice President. The Ambassador was accredited to FSM in April of 2002.

On May 29, the Charge d' Affaires at interim for the Embassy of Japan, Hyosuke Yasui, made his Courtesy Call on President Joseph J. Urusemal and Vice President Redley Killion.

The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador Brendan Doran of the Australian Embassy wrapped up the Courtesy Calls with his visit today to the new Administration. Ambassador Doran was accredited to the FSM in November of 2001.
