 First FSM CPI PublishedPALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): August 25, 1997 - FSM President Jacob Nena transmitted to the Four state governors, the first publication of the Pohnpei Consumer Price Index (CPI) Volume No.1, appended to an August 13, 1997, letter. The publication consists of the first and second quarter indexes for the year 1997. Nena said that the future publications that will follow will serve as an important economic indicator for the FSM. He further stated his hopes for the implementation of CPI project for Kosrae, Chuuk and Yap States. The Division of Statistics at the Office of Planning and Statistics, is prepared to work with the remaining three states on their CPI. Consequently, Nena requested the cooperation and supports of the state governors.
