UN Volunteer and Fund Control Specialist to Visit States

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): August 6, 1997 - Vice President Leo A. Falcam told governors of the FSM States in a July 30, 1997, letter that it is important to improve foreign aid reporting and coordination in view of the declining funding under the Compact and hence the need to better focus foreign aid projects and programs to achieve a coherent results.

In this regard, UNDP Volunteer Specialist Solomon Wole and Fund Control Specialist Senny Phillip, attached to the FSM Finance Department, are visiting the states to provide training on the preparation of quarterly progress reports on aid funded projects and training on foreign funding proposal preparation to relevant staffs in each state.

The training is intended for staff of finance and planning departments which are requested to nominate one trainee each and a key staff be designated to organize and coordinate such training.

Wole and Phillip are planning to begin their visits with the State of Kosrae from August 11th to the 16th; the State of Chuuk from August 17th to the 22nd; and to Yap State from August 25th to August 29, 1997; and will conduct similar training for Pohnpei State staffs during the first week of September.
