Elanzo Appointed to NWAC

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): November 17, 1997 - President Jacob Nena, on October 28, 1997, informed, endorsed and congratulated Mrs. Kimiko Elanzo for her appointment to the National Woman's Advisory Council (NWAC) succeeding Mrs. Selihna Johnson from Pohnpei.

Elanzo was nominated by the State of Pohnpei for appointment by the President as Pohnpei State's representative on the FSM National Woman's Advisory Council.

Elanzo is a former member of Pohnpei State Legislature who served in the Third Legislature as Vice Chairman of Education and Cultural Affairs Committee among others. She was also a former Elementary School teacher and a widow of late Ywao Elanzo from the Marshall Islands.

The President encouraged the members of NWAC to continue to promote and advocate Woman's, Youth's, Children's and Family Issues. Nena said in his letter, adding that Elanzo's appointment coincides with his administration's efforts to win the support and ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by FSM Congress.

"I encourage you all to continue to promote and advocate for Women's, Youth's, Children's and Families' Rights and Issues," Nena concluded.

Copies of Nena's letter were sent to members of NWAC and Pohnpei Women Council.
