FSM Tourism Officials to attend China Travel Mart in Shanghai

Beijing, China (FSM Embassy, Beijing): November 18, 2010 - At the invitation of the China National Tourism Administration, Secretary of Resources and Development, The Honorable Marion Henry dispatched Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for Tourism, Mr. Bermance Aldis and Yap Visitor's Bureau Sales and Marketing Manager, Mr. Vincent Tafileluw to China to attend the 12th session of the China International Travel Mart (CITM). The Travel Mart will be held in Shanghai from 18-21 November 2010.

It is expected that more than 2000 exhibitors and nearly 1000 international buyers from over 90 countries and regions will participate in the travel mart. The China International Travel Mart is now the biggest travel mart in Asia and has served as an important platform for enhancing tourism exchanges between China and foreign countries.

After being granted Approved Destination Status (ADS) in 2008, and with the continued determination and efforts of the Mori Administration to promote the FSM as an excellent tourism and investment destination, DAS Aldis and Mr. Tafileluw look forward to actively participating in the Travel Mart in Shanghai to bring benefits back to the FSM.

While enroute to Shanghai, DAS Aldis and Mr. Tafileluw visited the FSM Embassy in Beijing to brief the Embassy of their efforts to promote the FSM at the Travel Mart. The Embassy has been working with FSM tourism authorities and tourism organizations in China to market the FSM and welcomed the opportunity to share and promote a united FSM approach towards the expected 58 million outbound Chinese tourists for 2010.
