New State Court Associate Justice Sworn into Office in Yap

Palikir, Pohnpei (Department of Youth and Civic Affairs, Yap State): December 22, 2009 - On Friday, December 18, 2009, the Yap State Court had a special proceeding for the swearing in ceremony of new Associate Justice Laurence Kenbaroy. In attendance were Governor Anefal, Lieutenant Governor Tareg, Senator Jesse Raglmar, members of the Yap State Bar Association, and court staff.

Chief Justice Manmaw presided over the special proceeding. In his remarks, the Chief Justice expressed special thanks to the Governor, Lt. Governor, and the members of the 7th Legislature for having the trust and confidence in Kenbaroy to serve as a fulltime Associate Justice and for fulfilling an important constitutional mandate of filling the vacant Associate Justice position which has been vacant for about 10 years. Chief Justice Manmaw also stated that the court is ready to welcome Kenbaroy to be an Associate Justice, and that the court has the trust and confidence in Kenbaroy's ability and integrity to serve the people in Yap well.

Governor Anefal, in his special remarks, thanked the members of the 7th Legislature for confirming his and Lt. Governor's nomination for Kenbaroy. He went on to say that with the confirmation, the court is now better equipped to deal with ever increasing case loads. Governor Anefal, after his remarks, went on to administer the oath of office to Associate Justice Kenbaroy.

The ceremony concluded with Associate Justice Kenbaroy thanking the Governor, Lt. Governor, and members of the Legislature for putting their trust in him to serve and administer justice for the people in Yap.
